Rugby Union Football Club
Oxford University Rugby Club (OURFC) has a long and illustrious history of sporting distinction. Founded in 1869, the story of Oxford rugby is nearly as old as that of rugby itself. With the changes that have come with the onset of professionalism, OURFC has increasingly struggled to meet administration costs that have risen substantially in recent years. Any contributions would help maintain the excellent facilities at Iffley Road, as well as support the development of undergraduate players through maintaining high coaching standards, and top quality fixtures for the Under 21s and the Whippets. OURFC is also financially responsible for the organisation of college rugby. As an integral part of the foundations of world rugby, and as a bastion of rugby heritage, the continuation of Oxford rugby and the Varsity Match requires continued and significant financial support. Whilst OURFC is responsible for the University’s rugby fabric, the club is entirely dependent on the contributions from its Alumni and investment /sponsorship from local businesses. Therefore any donations would help preserve the position of Oxford as one of the world’s leading amateur rugby clubs.
Donations will not contribute towards the scholarship of rugby players. Funds raised are used to finance the following:
- maintenance of Iffley Road facilities
- bringing top class coaches to work with players
- medical/physiotherapy support
- finance the Greyhounds, U21s, Whippets, and Colleges XV
- finance College rugby and Rugby Cuppers
- referee fees
- transport to matches
