Karate Club
The Oxford University Karate Club is one of the oldest martial arts clubs within the University and offers year round training for all levels. It is an inclusive club offering training for those that study and work at the University and to the local community. The club has the honour to be instructed by JKAE Chief Instructor Yoshinobu Ohta (7th dan) and Spiros Ventouras (4th dan).
As well as competing against Cambridge in the Varsity match, the club has sent representatives to BUCS, JKAE Nationals and a number of other competitions and we hope to increase the number of competitions in the club's schedule. The club trains hard but also has an active social life, from pub trips and karaoke nights to formal dinners (all of which Old Members are welcome to join in with).
In 2010/11 the club also hosted a visit from Keio University, Japan and we hope that the Oxford University Karate Club will be able to take up the invitation to visit Japan in the near future.
All donations will be gratefully received and your support will be used to fund teaching, pay towards travel costs to competitions and training courses as well as to replace old and out-dated equipment.
Thank you for helping the Karate Club to expand and grow over the coming years.
