Giving to the Ashmolean

"A wonderland for visitors" The Independent

The Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology houses the University’s extensive collections of art and antiquities. Established in 1683, it is Britain’s oldest public museum and one of the oldest museums in the world.

In November 2009, the Ashmolean opened to the public following a £61 million redevelopment, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Award-winning architect Rick Mather has created a light, spacious building that has provided 100% more display space, 4 temporary exhibition galleries, full environmental controls, a new education centre, and state-of-the-art conservation facilities.

The Ashmolean now has a world-class building to match its world-class collections.

Support exhibitions, education, conservation, and other core areas. We are celebrating 330 years of the Ashmolean in 2013. Be a part of the Museum’s future by giving a birthday gift to keep our doors open.
