Wadham College

Wadham College is one of the largest colleges of the University of Oxford, situated close to the heart of the city, with approximately 450 undergraduates, 150 graduates, and 60 Fellows. Founded in 1610 by Dorothy Wadham it has a rich and energetic past and, as it embarks on its next century, looks confidently to a similarly vibrant future.

The College is academically strong, with representation amongst most of the subjects taught at undergraduate level at the University. The College’s reputation within the University is an informal and progressive community which draws its students from diverse educational, social and ethnic backgrounds.

Donations to this fund allow the college to prioritise needs as and when they arise, thus allowing for more flexibility and speed of response.
This fund supports students at Wadham in a number of ways; a £100 grant is made to all new students to help cover the cost of books, approximately 25 travel grants are made every year which range in value from £200 to £250, and £100 can pay for an academic excellence prize. The Wadham Hardship Fund awards grants to students suffering unforeseen hardship.
Wadham must continue to attract world class academics. We currently seek to endow 14 fellowships, which include: Biochemistry, Classics, Economics, Engineering, English, History, Law, Mathematics, Medicine, Modern Languages (German and French), Physics, Law College Fellowship and the Tutorial Assistantship Fund.
While the College has done well in preserving and maintaining our magnificent heritage, it does come at a cost; the East Wing of the College has recently been re-roofed at a cost of £1.3 million and in the future the south, west and north wings will also need to be repaired.
The governing body has recently approved the conversion of what was previously the Blackwell’s Music Shop into a world-class Graduate Centre. This will offer a unique and vibrant facility for our graduate students.
