Giving to the Oxford Project to Investigate Memory and Ageing

The Oxford Project to Investigate Memory and Ageing (OPTIMA) is a research project tackling one of the great medical and social challenges of our time: Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s is a disease of the ageing brain that causes dementia. Its impact is devastating, not only on the person with dementia, but also on those around them.

In the sheer scale and detail of its investigations, OPTIMA is unique and internationally acclaimed. The project aims to deepen our understanding of the changes that occur in the brain as we age. It does this through the long-term study of elderly people with and without dementia. Our research is paving the way for better diagnosis, better treatments and, ultimately, ways of delaying or even preventing dementia. We have had many successes to date — for example, identifying new risk factors, such as a lack of B vitamins.

However, there is still much to be done and your donation will help us to improve the quality of life for many elderly people. For more information, please visit our OPTIMA website.
