Faculty of History
History has been taught in Oxford since 1622 and the Faculty aims to be a world leader in every sphere: outstanding undergraduate teaching, meticulous graduate training and supervision, and innovative research and publications. We have an enviable record in scooping awards and prizes for historical research. For example, Cultures of Knowledge, funded by one of the largest research grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded recently to the University of Oxford’s Humanities Division, is an interdisciplinary group of scholars working with partners in Britain and Europe to reconstruct the correspondence networks central to the revolutionary intellectual developments of the seventeenth century.
The University appreciates gifts to its general subject endowments which will support the area of greatest need, but specific priorities include:
- Buildings - The Radcliffe Observatory Quarter
- Supporting Academic Posts
- Supporting Graduate Scholarships
If you wish to discuss your preferred giving designation, please contact Luke Purser (details on right).
