Supporting Academic Posts

The college-based tutorial system is the core of humanities teaching and the key to our academic mission. All undergraduate provision at Oxford is underfunded, but this is especially true of the Humanities Division, as our teaching is so focused on the tutorial system and demands a high ratio of staff to students across a diverse range of subjects.

Our strategic ambition for the Humanities Division depends on dramatically increasing our faculty endowment. The financial challenges facing the University are well known, and their impact is real. Endowments are needed for posts at all levels of the academic career ladder, from early-career postdoctoral fellowships to Chairs.
